Inspiring Journeys: Our Staff Success Stories

Our staff are the backbone of our operations, and their success stories motivate us daily. Below, you can find some of these inspiring journeys:

  • As an autistic individual, I faced numerous challenges in finding a job, often being told I should be content with volunteering. However, my experience during the interview process at CCR was surprising and uplifting; they genuinely wanted to offer me a position. I thrive on routine and appreciate clear explanations, and CCR went above and beyond by listening to my needs and valuing my suggestions, which made me feel supported and safe.

Now, I am much more confident in my role, working with autistic children. I understand their feelings and experiences, and I know their parents feel reassured knowing I’m there for them, whether it's through playing games or simply listening. I also aim to show parents that their children can work and find happiness, just as I have.

    Kez Rea, Passenger Assistant

  • I love getting paid to meet people and be out in the community. Working with children means a lot to me, and I truly enjoy it as a passenger assistant. The team at CCR is wonderful, and I appreciate being part of such a supportive company.

    Vanessa Watts, Passenger Assistant

  • I started driving for CCR around April 2024. I've had a couple of different routes since then, starting out with the school run driving. I must admit I was a little bit nervous before my first run, but the guys in the office made sure I was ready. I also had some great mentorship when buddied briefly with drivers like Rich and Andrew, who are well versed in this sort of thing.

I enjoyed my time on those school runs and met so many great personalities, from drivers, school staff, parents, and most definitely, the students who were always a pleasure to see.

My current route is the shuttle run service from Redhill Station for Surrey County Council staff. A very straightforward role, where I meet new people every day and is equally rewarding in various ways.

I look forward to progressing further with the regular training and qualifications that CCR provides and continuing to make a difference daily.

    Vinny Edward, Driver

  • I joined the company looking for something a bit different and a change of pace from what I was used to. It was refreshing to be doing something more independent and without the pressures and constraints of working at a big company office. Having never worked with children before I had no idea what to expect, but the reality is that most of the parents, teachers and children are a delight to work with, and at times it can be very rewarding.

    Stephen Joyce, Driver

  • As someone who became disabled in my twenties due to injury, I appreciate working with CCR and the various schools and educational establishments we serve. The professionalism of the staff and the strong relationships we build with our clients, whether children or young adults, make the job incredibly fulfilling. The trust and rapport developed with both the passengers and the team create a truly rewarding experience for me.

    Caryn Duncan, Passenger Assistant

  • Having worked with CCR for around six years as a Passenger Assistant, I've experienced a wide variety of runs, schools, and students. From children who are barely recognizable as autistic to those who are non-verbal, violent, or wheelchair-bound, my role has always been to ensure their safe journey to and from school. While some parents are incredibly appreciative, asking for me on repeated routes, others see me as little more than someone who simply turns up and brings their child home.

The schools with teachers who have personal experience with autism or ADHD tend to be the most understanding and supportive. Despite the challenges—being punched, kicked, or spat at—these kids didn’t ask to be born this way, and it’s fulfilling to know that without our service, many of them might not make it to school at all. This is why I love what I do, and the management at CCR recognizes my commitment to the job.

    Steven Clarke, Passenger Assistant
